Produkttest Yeti Panga
Here is the backpack in its full glory

Foreword

In this product test we deal with the new backpack, the Yeti Panga. The company YETI has always been known for its incomparably robust and high-quality coolers. Recently, they have decided to use their expertise to shake up and revolutionize the market of backpacks, bags and duffel bags.

Workmanship

The outer layer of the backpack is made of the so-called Thickskin material, an exceptionally tightly compressed nylon. This gives the backpack not only its stylish look, but also the necessary stability and protection from sharp objects. The backpack’s straps are very carefully crafted and the zipper is easy and fluid to use, unlike comparative models.

Simple with good wearing comfort

Weight

With its 1800g, the Panga is a real heavyweight. Similar comparison models are usually lighter. However, the additional weight is distributed over the entire upper body by ergonomic shoulder and chest straps, so that the additional load is hardly noticeable. Thanks to the numerous adjustment options of the straps, the backpack can be individually adapted to the wearer.

Size

Even if the proud weight of the backpack gives the impression that it is a giant pack, the Panga turns out surprisingly compact. It measures 50.8 cm in height, 31.8 cm in width and 17.8 cm in depth. Inside the backpack are 3 dividers that provide enough space for everyday fishing needs. Unfortunately, the outside lacks a matching pocket that allows quick and easy access to a water bottle. An in-house solution for this are the drinking bottles of the Rambler-Series. Their compatible closures can be attached to the outside of the backpack using a carabiner.

Waterproof

YETI does not exaggerate when they claim that the backpack is waterproof. The HYDROLOK zipper and the U-DOCK closure close the backpack system so well that neither water nor air can enter or leave the backpack. Due to the durable THICKSKIN outer material and TPU coating, the Panga is also protected from water on its large surfaces.

Wearing comfort

Ergonomic DryHaul shoulder straps, padding on the back, a chest strap and a hip belt make the Panga quite strong in terms of wearing comfort. The chest strap and hip belt can be optionally removed and the straps are individually adjustable. All these factors provide the wearer with a high level of stability and comfort.

Add-Ons

Like other backpacks from YETI, the Panga can also be expanded and individualized by the various accessories. The loops on the front of the backpack offer enough space and attachment options for this. A perfect addition is, for example, the SIDEKICK Drybag from YETI itself. This can be quickly, easily and firmly attached to the panga by the loop system. The magnetic closure of the Drybag keeps small valuables, such as smartphone and car keys safe and waterproof and at the same time easily accessible. For the water bottle Yeti has also developed a system, the Yeti Rambler Bottle Sling Large – Charcoal, for the large bottle and Yeti Rambler Bottle Sling Small – Charcoal, for the small bottle.

Info about the company

YETI was founded back in 2006 by two brothers, Roy and Ryan Seiders. Out of necessity, that there were no coolers on the market that were suitable for the outdoor purposes of the brothers, they developed their own without further ado. Based on their personal experiences, they placed special emphasis on the sturdiness and workmanship of the coolers. 15 years later, YETI’s product range includes numerous items, from thermal mugs and coolers to backpacks and pack sacks. The Seiders brothers and their company are now an integral part of the outdoor scene.
