Fly Tying - Step by Step

The first step is to put on the gold head, and to gain depth you can also put on a gold tungsten bead.

The next step is to wind the lead wire with 0.15 mm. Tip: To get the Prince nymph even further into deep pumps you can double wrap the lead wire or use a lead wire with a larger diameter.

Next, tie the base wrap, making sure that the lead wire is completely wrapped. The winding should stop just before the tip of the hoe. To secure the wrap, use bonding wax, the bonding wax should be cured by the next step.

After the winding has hardened and can no longer be turned, you can bind the biots. Make sure that the tips are the same length and parallel to each other. First tie two safety windings and then tighten them when everything is in place. Then you can tie the biots and cut off the excess material. Tip: with a razor handle you can cut the biots very close to the silk.

The peacock feathers are then bound in, taking 3-5 fibers and binding them in the last third of the hack.

For the ribbing of the nymph you can exercise variations. We use here a ribbing with UV, this is to stimulate the appeal of fishing. You can also use a wire or any other material that is suitable for ribbing.

Then use the peacock feathers as the first ribbing. make sure that the feathers completely cover the red binding silk. the front part of the nymph remains free.

The second winding is also started with the UV thread at the end and tied in the front like the fevers. After this winding, everything is secured at the front of the head with binding varnish.

The penultimate step is to bind the brown hen feather. The lower part of the feather is removed and cut at an angle, so that in the next step the feather wrap nicely around the body.

Now the crown of the head is tied off. The last step is to tie in white biots that imitate the nymph’s wings.
